On 30 November 2016, the European Commission (EC) adopted its European strategy on Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems, an important milestone towards cooperative, connected and automated mobility.
The strategy foresees the need to amend and supplement the ITS Directive 2010/40/EU for aspects where legal certainty is needed, through the preparation of a delegated regulation on C-ITS.
The EC has therefore carried out an inception impact assessment and an online public consultation on specifications for C-ITS was open until early January 2018. In addition, a dedicated stakeholder workshop will take place on 9 February in Brussels, with the objective to gather specific information and data as well as listen to views and suggestions from experts and stakeholders.
The morning session will include presentations on the impact assessment study and the results of the online public consultation. Stakeholders will also have the opportunity to offer their own views. The afternoon session is aimed at experts in the field, and will focus on the policy options and deployment scenarios underpinning the impact assessment, including an exercise allowing all stakeholders present to offer detailed views and help to correct or amend the analytical approach.
