Women and men often do not experience equal mobility opportunities in their societies and many previous studies have shown that transport policy and mobility planning are better suited to men’s activities and mobility needs. Women also experience the transport system differently than men in terms of accessibility, safety and security. To gain an in-depth understanding of women travel patterns in their daily activities, researchers from ERAdiate team prepared an scientific paper entitled “Exploring women travel behaviour in the region of Žilina from large scale mobility survey“.
The paper provides extensive statistics of peoples travel behaviour, discovers differences between men and women travel behaviour but also offers the regression analysis with the focus on women travel behaviour. The results of the paper might be useful for transport operators, decision makers and other policy makers to reveal shortcomings and ensure the same quality of provided transport services for women as well as for men.
The overview of the scientific paper together with the achieved results were presented in RelStat-2018 conference by ERAdiate team member Martin Hudák. The main goal of the RelStat-2018 conference, which was held in Riga, Latvia, from 17th to 20th of October, was to provide an international forum for scientists and professionals to address recent research results and to present and discuss their ideas, experiences and achieved results arising in transport, information and communication technologies. Among the main topics of the last RelStat conference, there were Mathematics, Statistics, Modelling and its Applications, Smart Solutions in Transportation Systems, Information Systems and Information Technologies, etc.

In this field, a research literature review based on important challenges of women in developed and developing countries´ transport systems is reported by a conference paper “Women in Transport: a literature review” was presented at Road and Urban Transport (CMDTUR 2018).
