In collaboration with the Centre of Scientific and Technical Information of the Slovak Republic (CVTI), the ERAdiate team organised the Info Day on H2020 “Smart, green and integrated transport” Work Programme 2018-2020. Addressed to potential applicants to the 2018 calls for project proposals, the event took place at the University of Zilina on 28 February 2018 and covered the whole Work Programme 2018-2020, including application procedures, legal and financial rules.
The objective of the Info Day was twofold: first, to present “Smart, green and integrated transport” as a Social Challenge, which aims to boost the competitiveness of European transport industries and achieve a European transport system that is resource-efficient, climate and environmentally friendly, safe and seamless for the benefit of all citizens, the economy and society. Then, to provide the audience with practical tips and hints for drafting a successful project proposal and implementing a project.
Tatiana Kováčiková, ERA Chair Holder, who has a long experience with reviewing FP project proposals, emphasised the importance of keeping in mind the evaluators’ viewpoint when drafting a proposal, and of giving special care to the abstract.
Giuseppe Lugano, ERAdiate team member, and Enric Pardo from the Slovak Academy of Science, presented the projects they are involved in: MoTiV (Mobility and Value of Travel Time) and ASuMED(Advanced Superconductor Motor Demonstrator), respectively. They both concurred with Prof. Kováčiková on the need to demonstrate the complementarity of each partner, with a balanced proportion of industry and academy, and how the Consortium is tailored to the Topic to be addressed. Likewise, while creativity is one of the ingredients for success, a good idea must also fit to the Topic. However, a brilliant idea fitting the Topic is not enough – success or failure is a joint outcome, which depends on teamwork, hence the importance of adopting a constructive attitude.
