Would you like to know how much time you spend for commuting and travelling?
The project MoTiV (Mobility and Time Value), coordinated by the ERAdiate team at the University of Žilina (UNIZA), entered its second phase and successfully launched the data collection campaign across 10 European countries in May 2019 (the list with participating countries can be found here). Quantitative and qualitative data on the commuting habits of Europeans will be collected and analysed to introduce a new definition for the Value of Travel Time. Moreover, it will help users to understand their value of travel time, how much time they spent for commuting and travelling or to see the statistics about their carbon footprint. To be a part of MoTiV data collection campaign, it is needed to download and use the Woorti app (www.woorti.com).
How does it work?
Anonymized data will be collected through the Woorti smartphone app, developed within the MoTiV project, which combines features such as an activity/mobility diary or intuitive dashboard served in an innovative way. When the app is installed, its advanced algorithms automatically detect the travellers’ trips and recognize the transport mode which was used. Once a trip is recorded, a few questions need to be validated by the user to give a qualitative value to the time spent. The European-wide campaign will be running until the end of October 2019 and everyone is welcome to join the MoTiV data collection campaign. After the campaign is over, the multicriterial analysis of the collected data will be performed and an Open dataset will be released to further stimulate the research on Value of Travel Time. At the same time, it will serve as recommendations for policy makers and other transport companies for better transport services in the future.
