Many cities across Europe do not currently have access to the resources or expertise required to develop coherent and challenging Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPS), needed to tackle mobility problems such as congestion, air quality, ambient noise, accidents and urban sprawl. The urban transport roadmaps tool has been developed to help cities develop sustanable mobility strategies.
The tool provides cities with the ability to readily identify, develop, screen and assess different urban transport policies and measures. City authorities have also the possibility to explore different policy scenarios, thereby identifying the poilcy measures that would be most useful in supporting their own urban transport sustainability goals. All transport/travel modes that are used in urban areas (e.g. cars, vans, heavy goods vehicles, buses, bicycles, motorised two wheelers and walking) are covered. Cities get quantitative outputs covering a range of different metrics. For instance, they can quickly and easily assess costs and cost effectiveness, covering the time period up to 2030.
Readily accessible, user-friendly and flexible, the tool does not require any background or experience in transport modeling and is adaptable to different types of cities, in the EU and worldwide.
