Among the most promising options how to steer the development towards cleaner and more efficient solutions are higher integration of renewable energy together with the electric road mobility. To make these changes feasible within the next decades will require addressing many technological, but also social and economic challenges. The project aims at facilitating the transition to electromobility from the socio-economic perspective by focusing on two areas of problems, where the mathematical modeling and optimization can be applied. The first challenge is to find optimal spatial deployment of the recharging infrastructure. Efficient approaches to this problem can create suitable conditions for the higher penetration of electromobility in individual as well as in public transport. The second challenge covers situations, where the limited capacity of the electric grid does not allow for satisfying all the demands simultaneously and it is necessary to use optimization and market principles to share the limited network capacity in a fair way.
